Jakarta, Dec. 7 -- President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government will cancel Smallholder Business Credit (KUR) debts for Aceh farmers affected by floods and landslides.

"As for KUR debts, since this is a natural disaster, we will cancel them," Prabowo said during a press statement while inspecting the Teupin Mane bailey bridge in Bireuen, Aceh, on Sunday.

The President explained that the debt cancellation is due to the disaster being a force majeure event, so farmers need not worry about repaying their loans.

"Farmers should not worry about being unable to repay debts, because this is not negligence but a forced situation, a force majeure," he said.
