Jakarta, May 19 -- Hailing the launch of new flight routes connecting Bangkok and Phuket with Surabaya and Medan, President Prabowo Subianto said he expects it to help boost the tourism and economic sectors of Thailand and Indonesia.

He made the remarks while holding a joint press conference with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra after their bilateral meeting at the Government House in Bangkok on Monday.

"We welcome cooperation in the aviation sector and the development of technologies in this field," he said in his statement, which was followed online via a streaming broadcast by the Thai Prime Minister's Office.
