Jakarta, Oct. 27 -- President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has called on ASEAN to consider deploying an observer team to ensure transparency and accountability in Myanmar's upcoming general elections.
Speaking at the retreat session of the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday, President Prabowo addressed recent developments across the region, including Myanmar's plan to hold elections in December 2025.
"The crises surrounding us continue to test our resolve-within our region and among our friends. The situation in Myanmar remains a deep concern. We are closely monitoring the latest developments, including the planned elections this December," Prabowo said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
