St. Petersburg, June 21 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has expressed appreciation to the Russian Government for supporting Indonesia's membership in BRICS, an intergovernmental organization believed to be able to contribute significantly to global stability and prosperity.

"We thank the Government of Russia for promptly supporting us to become a member of BRICS," Subianto noted in his speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025 in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday.

The president highlighted that Indonesia continues to play an active role in international relations. Besides BRICS, Indonesia was also accepted as a member of the New Development Bank (NDB) in a relatively short time.
