Jakarta, Jan. 7 -- President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening food security not only in the agricultural sector but also in the fisheries sector by developing 1,100 Red and White Fishing Villages (KNMP) across Indonesia this year.

"In 2026, we are targeting 1,100 fishing villages. Next year, there may be more," he remarked at the Grand Harvest and Food Self-Sufficiency Announcement event in Karawang, West Java, on Wednesday.

He stated that Indonesia must achieve food self-sufficiency, specifically in animal protein from both livestock and fish.

To achieve this, the government will establish thousands of fishing villages and develop hundreds of fish farming centers nationwide.
