Jakarta, Aug. 28 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said he was surprised when his pledge to uphold the law without bias became reality just days after making the statement.
Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Banten on Thursday, Prabowo recalled his remarks during the People's Consultative Assembly's annual session on August 15, where he promised not to shield members of his party, Gerindra, from legal consequences.
"I said I wouldn't protect anyone from Gerindra who breaks the law. A few days later, a member was arrested. He's a member, but not a full cadre," he said at the Indonesian District Governments Association (Apkasi) event.
