New York, Sept. 25 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed on Wednesday that peace in the Middle East can only be achieved if Israel's security is fully respected and guaranteed, alongside Palestinian independence.

"Peace can only come if everyone acknowledges, respects, and guarantees Israel's security," Prabowo told reporters in New York.

"Israel's security must be guaranteed first before we can achieve peace," he added.

The president made the remarks in response to reactions from world leaders to Indonesia's position on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He said many considered Jakarta's stance realistic and balanced.
