Jakarta, Feb. 19 -- President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia does not forget the United States' historic role in supporting the country's independence struggle between 1945 and 1949, describing the support as a moral foundation for bilateral relations.

"At that time, we were fighting a war of independence to free ourselves from Dutch colonialism, and the US played a significant role in supporting us. Throughout the early history of our nation, we have always seen America assisting us in critical times," Prabowo said in a voice recording received here on Thursday.
