Jakarta, Sept. 24 -- President Prabowo Subianto declared Indonesia's readiness to make a greater contribution to global peace, including deploying up to 20,000 personnel for United Nations peacekeeping missions.
Delivering his remarks at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York on Tuesday local time, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia's role as one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeepers.
"We believe in the United Nations. We will continue to serve where peace needs guardians - not with just words, but with boots on the ground," he said.
The president reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to comply with any UN Security Council or General Assembly decisions requiring peacekeeping deployments in conflict zones.
