Jakarta, May 21 -- President Prabowo Subianto envisions the Red and White Village Cooperatives as hubs for distributing basic necessities to communities, according to Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ahmad Riza Patria.

"Mr. President wants village cooperatives to distribute social aid, cash assistance, fertilizers, groceries, and even liquefied petroleum gas," Patria stated at the Jakarta Town Hall on Wednesday.

After a meeting with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and village leaders from across the capital, Patria noted that July 12 had been set as the launch date for 80 thousand cooperatives under the Red and White Village Cooperatives program.
