Jakarta, Oct. 20 -- President Prabowo Subianto has requested that a portion of the Rp13.2 trillion (US$800 million) recovered from a major crude palm oil export corruption case be allocated for scholarships.

The President instructed Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to facilitate the transfer of the returned funds to the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), which manages scholarships for Indonesian students.

"Perhaps, from the Rp13 trillion handed over by the Attorney General to the finance minister today, we can allocate a portion of it for future scholarships," the President said as he opened a plenary cabinet meeting in Jakarta on Monday.
