Jakarta, Feb. 19 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto encouraged a major United States company to expand its investment in medical equipment production in Indonesia.

Speaking at the Gala Iftar Dinner Business Summit in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening, Prabowo said multinational firm General Electric (GE) has opportunities to increase cooperation following the establishment of 10 new universities focused on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and medicine.

"I believe there are opportunities for the United States. General Electric is already producing medical equipment in Indonesia, and we hope it will expand its production," he said in an audio statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.
