Banda Aceh, Aceh, Dec. 8 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has approved the allocation of up to Rp4 billion, or around US$239,000, in additional funds for each district and city affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra.

The decision was made after Home Minister Tito Karnavian requested Rp2 billion per affected region during a coordination meeting on Sumatra's disaster response in Aceh Besar, Aceh, on Sunday.

"The 52 districts and cities have dire financial conditions. Perhaps we can help by providing Rp2 billion for regional governments to help the people," Karnavian told the president during the meeting.
