Jakarta, Aug. 31 -- President Prabowo Subianto, together with leaders of political parties in parliament, agreed to eliminate allowances for members of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and to halt all overseas working visits.
The announcement was made at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday in response to public demands following demonstrations in several regions.
"Some policies of the House have been agreed to be revoked, including lawmakers' allowances and the moratorium on overseas trips," Prabowo said.
He added that the House would soon open direct dialogue with the public.
