Jakarta, July 4 -- Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Isyana Bagoes Oka, has said that positive communication with parents can protect children from falling into the trap of cyberbullying, both as victims and aggressors.

"Parents need to understand how to communicate effectively with children and teenagers," Oka stressed after the screening of the film Cyberbullying here on Friday.

She added that parents must also build their understanding of the digital technologies used by their children and adolescents in daily life.

"We must recognize that the world children and teens live in today is very different from 30 years ago. With the rise of social media, they now face enormous challenges," she noted.
