Probolinggo, E Java, Feb. 17 -- Police in East Java have launched a special investigation after seven suitcases belonging to Thai tourists were reported stolen near the popular Mount Bromo tourist site in Probolinggo District.

Probolinggo Police Chief AKBP M. Wahyudin Latif confirmed on Tuesday that the incident occurred on Sunday, Feb. 15, when the tourists' vehicle was parked at the Sukapura District Hall.

The group briefly left the locked vehicle. Upon returning, they found it had been broken into and seven suitcases were missing.

Latif said the case is being treated as a priority because it involves the safety of foreign visitors.
