Jakarta, Dec. 21 -- The Indonesian National Police conducted comprehensive security sweeps across Jakarta on Saturday, part of a high-level initiative to ensure public safety ahead of the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

The inspections targeted high-traffic public areas and religious landmarks, including the Jakarta Cathedral, the Gambir central railway station, and the iconic National Monument (Monas).

Security posts at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, a major city landmark and traditional gathering spot, were also reviewed.
