Jakarta, Aug. 8 -- The Indonesian National Police (Polri) and State-Logistics Agency (Bulog) have forged a partnership to launch the Affordable Food Movement nationwide next week in a bid to stabilize rice prices in the market.
In a statement cited in Jakarta on Friday, Polri's Inspector General of Supervision Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo stated that the food movement follows findings of rice being sold above the highest retail price (HET) in several regions.
He remarked that the initiative also aims to accelerate the Stabilization of Food Supply and Prices (SPHP) program, which has so far distributed only eight thousand tons of rice out of this year's 1.3-million-ton target.
