Indonesia, Jan. 12 -- Lombok Timur Police in West Nusa Tenggara have arrested six undocumented immigrants from Afghanistan and several African nations suspected of attempting to travel abroad illegally via Tanjung Luar, Ekas Buana Village.

"The immigrants were allegedly to be transported to Maringkik Island, where a boat had been prepared for them," Lombok Timur Police Public Relations Chief, Adjunct Commissioner Nicolas Osman, reported on Monday.

Police detained the six individuals along with a local resident who was escorting them. Authorities also seized a vessel suspected of being prepared for the journey out of East Lombok.

"This case remains under investigation," Osman added.
