Jakarta, Jan. 1 -- The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has prepared approximately 2,500 tons of logistical aid to support rehabilitation and emergency response, including educational supplies for schoolchildren affected by the disaster in Sumatra.

PMI Chairman Jusuf Kalla said here on Thursday that the aid covers various basic needs, from textbooks, stationery, and school backpacks to cleaning and rehabilitation equipment.

This logistical aid is scheduled to begin being sent in the near future.

"Children have started school. So, we've prepared educational supplies, such as 1.5 million notebooks and 20,000 school kits," said Jusuf Kalla after inspecting the PMI Logistics Warehouse, here on Thursday.
