Jakarta, Nov. 27 -- Indonesia expects two peak travel surges for the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays, with the heaviest outbound traffic predicted on Dec. 20 and Dec. 24, the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) said on Thursday.

Korlantas Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho told Parliament's Commission III that government plans to apply work-from-anywhere and work-from-home policies on Dec. 22-24 may shift traffic patterns and prompt earlier departures, particularly for travelers using the Trans-Java corridor and the Merak-Lampung route.

To manage congestion, the police will launch Operation Lilin 2025 from Dec. 20, 2025, to Jan. 2, 2026, with a nationwide roll call scheduled for Dec. 19.
