Bekasi, W Java, Feb. 19 -- Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid has assured that the plan to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) center in Papua can be realized through collaboration with a global technology company.

She made the remarks as a follow-up to her meeting in late 2024 with the CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, who shared his plans to build an AI center in eastern Indonesia.

"For Papua, we are most likely also collaborating with Nvidia. Indeed, there has been a delay, but it is still on track," Hafid said here on Wednesday.

The AI center, which will be named the AI Excellence Center, is planned to be built in the capital of Papua province, Jayapura, she added.
