Jakarta, July 17 -- The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) has outlined several benefits of working legally abroad, such as exemption from import duties on goods sent home by Indonesian migrant workers.
"If (they) are registered with SiskoP2MI, migrant workers can send goods valued up to Rp50 million (around US$3,064) free of import duty," P2MI Minister Abdul Kadir Karding stated during a public lecture at the Islamic University of Riau, as quoted from the ministry's statement here on Wednesday.
In addition to duty-free shipments, Karding stated that the government can offer supporting facilities, including sending goods worth tens of millions of rupiah at no charge.
