Jakarta, Aug. 6 -- The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) said hoisting flags or displaying other attributes from the One Piece manga series ahead of the Indonesian Independence 80th Anniversary constitutes a form of freedom of expression.
Komnas HAM Chairperson Anis Hidayah explained that it is essentially a symbolic expression by citizens, guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution, as part of the right to opinion and expression.
