Jakarta, July 1 -- Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, has said that she expects the candidate for the ambassador to the United States post to possess a sound understanding of current geopolitical conditions and global dynamics.

"We hope that the proposed names truly understand the geopolitical and global situation," she said in a press statement following a plenary session at the Parliamentary Complex here Tuesday.

She also emphasized that the selected ambassador must be welcomed by the host country.

"They must be accepted by the countries to which they are chosen as ambassadors," she said.
