Jakarta, Feb. 10 -- State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir said the appointment of an active member of the Indonesian Military (TNI) as president director of state logistics firm Bulog is meant to bring in a fresh perspective.

According to the minister, the appointment is a strategic move to achieve the country's goal of food self-sufficiency.

Major General Novi Helmy Prasetya was selected for the post based on a study on increasing the absorption of three million tons of rice equivalent.
