Jakarta, July 21 -- The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has called for making earthquake-resistant construction the standard for multi-story buildings nationwide, following the inauguration of a multi-hazard command center building in Jakarta.

BNPB chief secretary Rustian stressed that the seismic isolation technology used in the command center building, which belongs to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), is designed to absorb the impact of a major earthquake and should be replicated in other construction projects in Indonesia.
