Jakarta, March 7 -- The Indonesian Navy has strived to boost its combat capabilities and forged cooperation with other military forces to preserve maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region, Chief of Staff, Admiral Muhammad Ali, has said.
Speaking at the Ottawa Conference on Security and Defence on Thursday, he listed several violations that occur frequently in the Indo-Pacific region, such as armed robbery at sea, piracy, illegal fishing, drug smuggling, and human trafficking.
To address these issues, the Indonesian Navy has tried to increase its combat capabilities so that it can take action against perpetrators that threaten Indonesia's maritime sovereignty in the Indo-Pacific region, he said, according to a statement received here...
