Jakarta, July 30 -- The National Police's investigation into the fire that ripped through South Jakarta's Taman Puring Market had yet to identify the cause as of Wednesday.

As part of the investigation, a team from the National Police's Forensic Laboratory took several samples from the fire site to determine the precise cause of the fire, a police officer said.

The samples included charcoal ash as well as electrical cable and equipment, Commissioner Henry Siahaan, head of the Forensic Laboratory's fire incident unit, said here on Wednesday.

The samples will be thoroughly examined at the lab for a week to help investigators pinpoint the cause of the fire, he added.
