Jakarta, Sept. 5 -- Muslims in Jakarta gathered Thursday evening at the Istiqlal Mosque to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, with officials urging the celebration to serve as a reminder to strengthen compassion, unity and care for others.
The Jakarta office of Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs called on Muslims to make the commemoration a moment to deepen their love for the Prophet and follow his example.
"Let us make the commemoration of the Prophet's birthday the best momentum for us to love and emulate the morals of Prophet Muhammad even more," Adib, head of Jakarta Religious Affairs Office, said in a statement Friday.
