Jakarta, May 15 -- Deputy Head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) Afriansyah Noor confirmed that cosmetic products must be halal certified after October 17, 2026.

"In Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Guarantee Sector, after October 17, 2026, several products must be halal certified, namely medicinal products, cosmetics, chemical products, genetically engineered products, and consumer goods," he noted in a statement on Thursday.

Although the obligation to obtain halal certification begins in October 2026, he noted that many cosmetic products have already obtained this certification.
