Indonesia, July 22 -- Mount Dukono in North Halmahera District, North Maluku, erupted on Monday, spewing volcanic ash up to 1,200 meters above the peak, as reported by the Dukono Volcano Observation Post (PGA).
"The eruption sent a column of volcanic ash 1,200 meters high on Monday," Bambang Sugiono, an officer at Dukono PGA, noted in a statement on Monday (July 21).
He reported that Mount Dukono emitted a thick column of white to gray ash, which was observed drifting east.
Sugiono remarked that the eruption of the volcano, which stands 1,087 meters above sea level, was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 26 mm and a duration of 78.71 seconds, as monitored from the Dukono PGA Post in Mamuya Village, Galela Sub-district...
