Jakarta, July 2 -- The Ministry of Transportation is currently holding discussions with several stakeholders on the plan to raise the fares of online taxis by eight to 15 percent.

Aan Suhanan, director general of land transportation at the ministry, clarified that the plan is still in the discussion stage, adding that the process for turning it into a policy or regulation would be a lengthy one.

"Regarding reports of an 8-15 percent rise in online taxi fares, we are still conducting an in-depth study. This means we have not made a final decision, as a rigorous process is underway," he informed in Jakarta on Wednesday.
