Indramayu, West Java, Dec. 10 -- Deputy Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi called on young Indonesians to emulate the struggles of transmigrants as national patriots who helped establish new civilizations across the country.

"Today we call them patriots because they safeguarded land and water in remote areas and built new livelihoods," Mauladi said at the Sukra Transmigration Pioneers Cemetery here on Wednesday.

He visited Indramayu to hold a flower-laying ceremony in memory of 67 prospective transmigrants who died in an accident before being sent to their designated locations.
