Jakarta, Jan. 21 -- The Ministry of Environment has tightened the Strategic Environmental Assessment (KLHS) as a prerequisite for issuing corporate permits in Sumatra.
This was conveyed by the ministry's secretary, Rosa Vivien Ratnawati, in response to President Prabowo Subianto's decision to revoke the permits of 28 companies that violated forest land-use regulations in areas affected by the floods and landslides in late November 2025.
"This is to assess a region's environmental carrying capacity. If environmental approvals are to be reissued in that area, we will check the KLHS," she said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
