Tangerang, Banten, May 5 -- The Ministry of Population and Family Development has launched a program to reach one million family planning acceptors by the end of May 2025, with midwives nationwide facilitating the effort.
"We are starting the one million family planning acceptors program from Tangerang, Banten," Minister of Population and Family Development Wihaji stated here on Monday.
He explained that the program prioritizes the use of intrauterine devices (IUDs), also commonly known as spiral contraception.
He explained that the IUD is a T-shaped contraceptive device inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy either by blocking sperm from reaching the egg or by altering the uterine lining to prevent implantation.
