Jakarta, Nov. 22 -- The Ministry of Home Affairs urged regional governments to accelerate the confirmation of village boundaries to provide legal certainty and reduce the potential for conflict between villages.
"Several times, disputes have escalated to physical violence and inter-village fights due to these boundaries," the ministry's Secretary General Tomsi Tohir said at a coordination meeting on village boundary confirmation with regional governments here on Friday.
He noted that, to date, village boundary confirmation has only reached about 14.4 percent, thereby requiring full support from regional governments to accelerate its completion.
