Jakarta, Nov. 6 -- The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is developing radioactive testing laboratories in various regions to prevent Cesium-137 contamination in fishery products.
Head of the ministry's Agency for Quality Control and Supervision of Marine and Fishery Products, Ishartin, in a press conference here on Thursday, noted that the step is part of the strategy to strengthen the quality control system for fishery products.
In addition, it is also aimed at maintaining export market trust in Indonesian fishery products amid rising global demand.
She noted that the first laboratory equipped with radioactive testing equipment is set to be operational in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, by the end of 2025.
