Jakarta, Aug. 10 -- Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar has advised people to thoroughly vet overseas job providers and not be lured by offers of huge salaries.
The minister, colloquially called Cak Imin, said those seeking work abroad must gather clear and verified information about the job, including the provider, type of work, and terms and conditions.
"Don't get lured by false promises of a big salary," he warned in Malang, East Java, on Saturday.
He highlighted many instances of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) falling victim to job scams. In many cases, when workers arrive in the destination country, the job and pay do not match what was initially promised.
