Jakarta, Dec. 5 -- Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia affirmed readiness to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of mining operations suspected of contributing to floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"In West Sumatra, in Aceh as well, we are conducting checks. In North Sumatra, our evaluation team is currently assessing the situation," Lahadalia said in a statement received here on Friday.

He continued, "After the evaluation team completes its work, I will examine whether the mining operations have had an impact. I assure you, if there are mines operating outside legal regulations, we will impose strict sanctions."
