Jakarta, Sept. 2 -- Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has urged regional governments to immediately repair public facilities that have been damaged during the recent riots in several regions.

"Do not leave them unrepaired because it will trigger public trauma," he said after a coordination meeting on regional inflation control in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He explained that the repair can be funded with the regional budget or sourced from public initiatives.

"If the regional budget is insufficient, we can use a grant mechanism. For instance, grants from other provincial governments, district governments with stronger fiscal capacity," he said.
