Jakarta, July 18 -- Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has asked regional heads to seek the right instruments to increase regional own-source revenue, including by optimizing the role of region-owned enterprises (BUMDs).
After inaugurating the central executive board of the Indonesian District Governments Association (APKASI) in Jakarta on Thursday, he said that to increase regional revenue, regional governments need to ease business licensing and encourage the role of the private sector.
These are deemed necessary because, if the private business ecosystem is operating well, an increase in revenue will be recorded at the regional or even national level.
