Jakarta, July 7 -- Minister of Environment Faisol Nurofiq called on area managers to take responsibility for their own waste instead of handing it over to third parties who later dispose of it at a landfill site (TPA).

"They should no longer hand over the waste management task to third parties who eventually dump the waste at open dumping TPA," he noted in a statement on Monday.

He emphasized that commercial, residential, and culinary areas, including hotels, restaurants, and cafes (HOREKA), and shopping centers, must manage their waste independently so as not to burden the TPA.
