Jakarta, July 17 -- Culture Minister Fadli Zon introduced and promoted Indonesian traditional fabrics to the international community during a visit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Headquarters in Paris, France.
"The handover of these fabrics serves as a testament to Indonesia's consistency in preserving its cultures," Zon remarked.
According to an official statement cited in Jakarta on Thursday, he presented UNESCO with four culturally significant fabrics crafted by Indonesian designer Edward Hutabarat.
Among the items was a piece of Sawunggaling batik cloth from Central Java, depicting a rooster-a symbol of power.
