Banda Aceh, Sept. 7 -- Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin praised Dr. Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital (RSUDZA) for successfully performing a cerebrovascular bypass procedure in collaboration with neurosurgeons from the National Brain Center (PON) Hospital in Jakarta.

"This is the first cerebrovascular bypass surgery performed at this hospital. RSUDZA is the eighth hospital out of seven provinces in Indonesia to perform this procedure," the minister said on Sunday.

He explained that the procedure was performed on a patient with Moyamoya Disease, a rare condition of narrowing the brain blood vessels which increases the risk of stroke recurrent.
