Jakarta, Dec. 2 -- Indonesia's women's empowerment and child protection minister visited a flood evacuation centre in Padang, West Sumatra, to ensure the needs of women and children are being met as emergency efforts continue.

"We are deeply concerned about the disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. I came with my team to meet survivors, especially women and children who face the highest risks during emergencies," Minister Arifah Fauzi said.

In a statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday, she said her ministry has coordinated with provincial and district governments to assess conditions and identify priority needs.
