Jakarta, Dec. 13 -- Indonesian Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar highlighted the vital role of the Offices of Religious Affairs (KUA) in providing administrative, spiritual, and social services to the public.
In Indonesia, KUAs are widely recognized for their core mandate of registering and solemnizing marriages among Muslim couples.
"KUAs are not ordinary offices, as they are responsible for solemnizing marriages through contracts recognized under Islamic law. These offices embody the government's presence at every stage of family formation," Umar said.
The minister made the remarks during the KUA Service Award 2025 event, according to a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday.
