Jakarta, Feb. 2 -- Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti encourages the preservation of Indonesian children's songs by creating new songs.

Minister Abdul Mu'ti made the statement at the announcement of winners of the Early Childhood Learning Songs Creation (Kicau) competition in Jakarta on Sunday.

He affirmed that his ministry carried out the Kicau competition to encourage the creation of songs that build children's characters, instill a love for the country and nature, and foster other noble characters.

Ten children's songs were announced as winners from a total of 400 songs participating in the event. The 10 winning songs will be compiled into one album.
