Jakarta, Oct. 23 -- Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the domestic industrial sector is ready to implement the national car project, one of President Prabowo Subianto's key policies.

"The industry is ready. I've also spoken with the companies involved. The brand already exists, and I have met with the company representatives," Agus said in a statement received here on Thursday.

He added that he has proposed the national car initiative be designated as a National Strategic Project (PSN) and has sent a formal letter to the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) for consideration.
