Jakarta, Sept. 10 -- Manpower Minister Yassierli has called for ratification of the Bill on Domestic Workers Protection (PPRT) to ensure legal certainty and social security for domestic workers.

"This bill is a mandate for us. The Ministry of Manpower continues to support it and hopes the bill will provide fair legal certainty and social security for domestic workers, along with equal treatment before the law," Yassierli said during a Public Hearing with the House of Representatives' Legislative Body (Baleg) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

He noted that there are at least 4.2 million domestic workers in Indonesia, many of whom are vulnerable to losing their labor rights.
